Denitrifiers
Microscopy 2.0 - The innovation in wastewater analysis
Denitrification is a biological process in which nitrate is reduced to elemental gaseous nitrogen N2 by bacteria (e.g. Alphaproteobacteria, Betaproteobacteria, Saprospiraceae). Similar to the nitrifiers, the population ratios of the denitrifiers are also essential for the trouble-free operation of the wastewater treatment plant.
Advantages of PCR as a monitoring tool for the wastewater treatment plant
- Prevention of operational disturbances due to high sensitivity of the method
- Increased efficiency of the system
- Support of root cause investigation in case of malfunction
Determination of denitrifiers with qPCR
Using qPCR, we can identify the most important denitrifiers and show the live cell count (in %) of each population as follows
show
- Alphaproteobacteria
- Betaproteobacteria
- Saprospiraceae
The percentage live cell counts of the individual denitrifiers are especially important for the clarification of plant malfunctions. The data were kindly provided by DyeNA Genetics GmbH.
Denitrifiers - simple, precise and fast determination
- Easy assessment of the denitrification performance of your plant
- Prevention of operational problems
- Monitoring of the denitrificant population in the event of structural changes to the plant
