Veterinary pathogen surveillance via water and air sampling technologies

Several airborne viruses pose risk to swine, poultry, cattle, or veterinary workers. Airborne viruses may be transmitted through the air via aerosols, especially when animals are kept in the confined spaces of agricultural facilities. Such aerosols can be concentrated with air sampling devices or filters and analyzed for airborne pathogens. Sampling for pathogens in livestock production facilities or in process water is a state of the art veterinary surveillance technology for easy and early detection of lifestock hazards.

NucleoMag DNA/RNA Water

The NucleoMag DNA/RNA Water enables manual or automated extraction of either DNA, RNA, or both molecules in parallel from filter-concentrated samples, spanning from turbid to clear, as well as from air filters. Simultaneous detection of DNA and RNA in the same sample enables fast and accurate detection of viruses or microbes (depending on concentration method) and living microorganisms (through RNA) in the same sample. This makes NucleoMag DNA/RNA Water ideal for microbial metagenomics, environmental microbiology, air pathogen surveillance, and for estimation of process water quality through determination of the microbial/viral load of the sample.
