This consists of hazardous substance symbols, references to particular hazards, safety advice and information regarding disposal. The GHS ordinance 1272/2008/EC (Global Harmonization System) calls for far-reaching changes in the labelling of hazardous substances and in the safety data sheets (MSDS). In addition, information on storage, shelf life and batch numbers are imprinted. Which substances are classified as hazardous substances can be found in the CLP ordinance and the Chemicals Act.
Disposal of reagent sets
The professional disposal of reagent sets is a free service. The requirements and objectives of the new Waste Management Act (KrWG) dated 1 June 2012 are met in full. All waste received at MACHEREY-NAGEL, such as reagents, packaging materials and glass cuvettes, are sent for further utilisation or approved disposal.
Our customers are relieved of the obligation to provide proof
On the basis of the above law, customers are relieved of the obligation to provide proof of disposal if the manufacturer and distributor voluntarily take back waste for disposal or recovery. This applies to the reagent sets obtained from MACHEREY-NAGEL. The voluntary taking back of reagents according to section 26 was notified to the competent authority, in this case the Cologne Regional Government – Higher Water Authority.
The transport permit obligation and the obligations to provide proof in accordance with section 50 do not apply if there is proof of exemption from the authority. Our customers receive a confirmation of receipt for their waste management accounting.
