Unboxing the URYXXON Relax
The URYXXON Relax is a portable and easy to use urine analyzer for professional use. It is an in-vitro diagnostic device designed to read test strips for urine analysis produced by MACHEREY-NAGEL only. The URYXXON Relax provides semi-quantitative values, which may be displayed, printed and transferred. The tests performed with the URYXXON Relax are intended for in-vitro diagnostic use only.

Getting started with the URYXXON Relax
Analysis of test strips
Before using the device for the first time, read the quick start guide and familiarize yourself with all functions of the device. The touchscreen can be operated with the fingers or even with gloves.
The URYXXON Relax is very easy to use:
- Start the measurement: Place the test strip on the strip holder (a new strip is detected automatically)
- A progress bar appears, that indicates the remaining analysis time
- After 30 seconds: The test strip is drawn into the device
- After the measurement: The instrument will release the analyzed test strip which can now be discarded
- The result is displayed on the screen and is transferred via the interfaces and/or printed according to equipment settings
The sequence number (Seq.No.) as well as the patient identification (ID) will be displayed with the results.
Positive diagnostic results are indicated by an asterisk(*) in the display on the printout and can optionally be indicated by an acoustic signal.

For the evaluation of the Microalbumin test strips, findings are displayed with an additional statement (repeat with new sample, normal, abnormal, high abnormal). Additionally, it is possible to enable an acoustic signal for the findings "Repeat with new sample", "abnormal" and "high abnormal".
The URYXXON Relax in combination with the Medi-Test urine test strips can evaluate up to 13 different parameters in a semi-quantitative way:

The urine test strips are used as a diagnostic aid or screening test for human urine analysis. Medi-Test urine test strips are used by healthcare professionals. The test strips are suitable for near-patient use outside a laboratory. They are not for self-testing.

Contact free operation
- After placing the strip on the instrument, the measurement starts automatically. No further action is needed which makes the operation easy and clean.
Graphic display
- On the 320 x 240 pixel graphic screen results for all 10 parameters are conveniently displayed on one page. Pathological results are clearly marked which makes further diagnostic decisions straightforward.
Touchscreen
- Operation with touchscreen makes using the instrument a real pleasure. All functions can easily be accessed with a dip on the screen. Optionally an external keyboard can also be connected, so patient names can be comfortably introduced.
Interface options
- The instrument carries an USB as well as an RS232 interface. It can easily be connected to existing laboratory information systems.
Small footprint for mobile operation
- Due to the small footprint of only 16 x 20 cm mobile use of the device is highly comfortable. Combined with the option for battery operation this is the ideal instrument at the point of care.
Power supply with batteries possible
- Optional battery operation enables to use the instrument wherever it is needed. Of course the instrument can also be powered using a 110/240 V autoswitch mains adaptor.
Memory for 200 measurements
- Up to 200 measurements can be stored. Using internal functions positive readings can easily be filtered out, enabling further diagnosis when necessary.

Cleaning the device
- Wipe off the instrument from the outside with a disinfection wipe.
- Turn the instrument off and pull out the strip holder to remove it from the instrument.
- Wipe down the strip holder with a disinfection wipe. Insert the holder into the instrument.
- Use reasonable force to push the strip holder completely onto the metal strip.
- Clean the surface of the instrument with a disinfection wipe once daily. Use designated disinfection wipes.

Quality Control
General Information
Quality control measurements should be performed regularly with check solutions in order to ensure the correct functioning of equipment in combination with the test strips. Every facility has to implement its own QC policy.
In vitro diagnostic medical device
The URYXXON Relax is a reflection photometer for the analysis of urine test strips. It is intended for In vitro diagnostic use (IVD) and should be used by healthcare professionals, only. Discuss each positive result with a doctor. In case of persisting symptoms repeat measurement. Only use MACHEREY-NAGEL urine test strips suitable for instrument evaluation. Test fresh urine samples within 2 hours of collection. Refrigerated urine samples must be brought to room temperature before testing (15-30°C).
Medi-Test Control
For Medi-Test products, MN offers a specially formulated control reagent to ensure optimal and convenient quality control. Medi-Test control is free of biological urine or any other biologically hazardous material and therefore doesn’t need a hazardous goods label. The reagents can be used immediately without any further preparation and the large reagent tubes make working with Medi-Test Control particularly easy.
