Advantages of QuEChERS (“Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged and Safe”) products compared to traditional cleaning methods: Easy handling and time-saving process as well as no need for glassware (convenient and economical). Low consumption of solvents and no need for chlorinated solvents (environmentally friendly). A wide range of pesticides can be detected. It is a robust method with high and safe recovery rates (reliable and high performance). These are the requirements for modern sample preparation. The QuEChERS method (pronounced as “catchers”) introduced in 2003 by Anastassiades et al. and the continuous development led to an extension of the ready-to-use mixtures. QuEChERS has become the method of choice for sample preparation for the analysis of pesticides and drugs in fruit, vegetables and other matrices.
