Processing of NucleoSpin 96-well plates

The NucleoSpin 96 kits allow for the purification of multiples of 96 samples. The kits are supplied with accessory plates for highest convenience. The kits are designed for manual or automated use in a centrifuge or for use with a vacuum manifold. Using NucleoSpin 96 Core kits, accessory components (e.g., lysis plates, elution plates) can be individually selected from a variety of suitable accessories as they are not provided with the "Core" version. This allows you highest flexibility.

Gravity flow

For processing by gravity flow, generally no additional equipment is needed. NucleoBond 96 Xtra EF and Protino 96 Ni-IDA are processed by gravity flow.

  • NucleoBond 96 Xtra EF

    NucleoBond Xtra EF Plate is processed under gravity flow. The filtration step (NucleoBond Filter Plate) and the precipitation step (NucleoBond Finalizer Plate) can be processed by centrifugation or by vacuum.

Centrifugation

For centrifugation, a microplate centrifuge is required. The centrifuge has to accommodate the sandwich of the 96-well plates stack on a block or tube strips (bucket height: up to 85 mm*) and should reach accelerations of 5600–6000 x g.
The following products can be processed by centrifugation: NucleoBond 96 Xtra EF, Protino 96 Ni-NTA, NucleoFast, and NucleoSpin 96 kits.

  • NucleoFast

    Max. accelerations of 4,500 x g are needed.

Vacuum processing

For processing under vacuum, a NucleoVac 96 Vacuum Manifold or any other suitable vacuum manifold is required. Instead of vacuum manifolds, positive pressure systems can be used as an alternative.
The following products can be processed by vacuum: NucleoBond 96 Xtra EF, Protino 96 Ni-NTA, and NucleoSpin 96 kits.

  • MN Wash Plate

    Reduces the risk of cross-contamination.

Automated processing on robotic platforms

NucleoSpin 96 kits can be used fully automated on many common laboratory workstations. For the availability of scripts and general considerations on a certain platform, please contact MN.

  • The risk of cross-contamination is reduced by the MN Wash Plate. Therefore, it is recommended to integrate the MN Wash Plate into the automated procedure. The MN Frame can be used to position the disposable MN Wash Plate inside the vacuum chamber. This also reduces the risk of cross-contamination. 
  • Protino 96

    For robotic applications or more convenient handling, the MN Shaker Frame is recommended.
