Hydrazine has been used in power plants to remove residual oxygen from condensation and feed water. The reaction products are merely water and nitrogen so that the salt content of the boiler water does not increase as is the case with other reducing agents. Due to its toxicity, however, hydrazine is today mostly replaced by other substances like DEHA.
